Place the material to be engraved in the working area of the machine (this is merely for illustration purposes in the picture). You can use Scotch tape or a honeycomb board and use staples to secure it.
The laser heads of the L1 series have two focusing methods. One is a fixed fixed-focus column, and the other is a multi-focal-length focusing block with three focal lengths available. You can choose the top or middle focusing step for the engraving. If cutting is required, it is recommended to use the lowest focusing distance (please ignore the possible difference in color of the laser head; the focusing methods are the same).
